Mayweather hints at Pac-man rematch | News Article

Days after the Fight of the Century between winner Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao, the dust hasn’t settled yet on the fight which many feel was more damaging to the sport rather has boosting it.

After the fight it was revealed that the Filipino southpaw, Pacquiao entered the richest fight in the sports history with a shoulder injury, and could see him receive a fine, cop a suspension or even face jail time for not declaring the injury.

Some Pacquiao fans are even wanting to sue the boxer $5 million for not revealing that he effectively entered the fight as a one-armed boxer.

He will however undergo surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and could be side-lined for a year.

Mayweather who had it written into the fight agreement that there would be no re-match if he won, said after the bout that he has one more fight left and looks at a possible September date against a yet to be named opponent.

However, speaking to ESPN, the undisputed welterweight world champion said he would be open to a rematch against Pacquiao, but only long after his surgery.

"I will fight him in a year after his surgery," said Mayweather.

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has welcomed the possible re-match although he conceded that it was mammoth task to make the fight happen.

Arum is of the view that at the parties involved would have learnt and it may be easier second time around.

"I think we now know what the pitfalls were," Arum said.

"And, ultimately, with all the aggravation and trouble, look at the pot of gold that we both produced. I think there will probably be less aggravation in a rematch. We understand each other better now. There's a real possibility it could work even better."
