The Lions were forced to shuffle their pack for their Super Rugby clash against the Sharks in Durban this weekend.
Coach Johan Ackerman several changes as Jacques van Rooyen comes in at loosehead prop, while Schalk “Hond” van der Merwe moves to the bench.
Jaco Kriel has been withdrawn due to a groin injury, with Derick Minnie moving to the openside Warwick Tecklenburg getting a starting role.
No changes were made in the backline.
The Sharks see the return of captain Bismarck du Plessis after missing last weeks 35-29 loss to the Toyota Cheetahs.
Giant Mtyanda starts at lock and Dale Chadwick replaces the injured Tendai "Beast" Mtawarira at loosehead prop.
Saturday evening’s match at Kings' Park kicks off at 19:10.
