Shimals vs. Ixias ready for kick-off─── 16:31 Mon, 23 Feb 2015
The University of the Free State Shimlas and the Central University of the Technology Ixias are ready for this evening’s big derby in the Varsity Cup.
The Ixias who are going into the match yet to record a victory in the competition will have to pull out all the stops due to injuries.
Ixias coach Skillie Bester confirmed that the home side are without the services of Charlie Hitchcock, Anrich Bitzi, Theuns Truter and Marius Grobler for the match.
Shimlas, themselves are without stalwarts Henco Venter who is injured and Tienie Burger who is unavailable due to Super Rugby commitments with the Toyota Cheetahs.
The first ever derby between the two sides in the competition kicks off at 16:45 at CUT Park.
At 18:00 champions the Ikeys host the Madibaz at the Green Mile in Cape Town, while at the same time UJ and the North West University Pukke resume their old rivalry in Johannesburg.
The final match of the round sees log-leaders Tukkies tackle Maties at 19:00 at the LC de Villiers Stadium in Pretoria.
