Changes expected for WP clash | News Article

The Toyota Free State Cheetahs are expected to name their side today to face Western Province over the weekend in the Currie Cup second round.

A few changes could be expected to the side after their 57-19 defeat to the Blue Bulls at the Free State Stadium on Saturday.

Eighth-man Niell Jordaan who impressed during both the Varsity Cup and Super Rugby could be making his return after the coach Franco Smith last week hinted that he would be fit for the match.

This will pose as a proper selection headache for Smith with Gerhard Olivier and Henco Venter performing admirably against the Bulls, while Boom Prinsloo was once against at his very best.

While Smith keeps his cards close to his chest, he may also opt to star with Fred Zeilinga at flyhalf to add a bit more experience to the mix.

The coach did however tell OFM Sport that they aim is to field the best possible side week-in, week-out and a few changes can be expected.

Saturday afternoon’s match at Newlands in Cape Town kicks off at 15:00.
