Currently competing in the Sasol solar challenge.
It is almost a year after the NWU Solar Car became the first African team to ever cross the finish line of the World Solar Challenge and they are competing in the 2016 Sasol Solar Challenge.
They took part in their first Sasol Solar Challenge in 2012 when we aspired to build an automobile, powered only by the energy of the sun. Within a mere three months and a small budget of five hundred thousand rand, that dream was realised and the Batmobile was born!
In 2014 they finished in fourth place, breaking the record for the furthest distance traveled on a single day by a South African Team. - Source
