• 1999: The away game between the Bafana Bafana, SA soccer team, and Mauritius ends in a tie with the score 1-1.
• 2000: The Bafana Bafana, SA soccer team, beats Gabon 3-1.
• 1983: Bjorn Borg announces his retirement from tennis.
