The police in the Free State have called on residents to help locate a missing woman in Welkom.

According to police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, 52-year-old Nondaba Makhaza left her brother's place on Saturday morning on her way to Welkom Central Business District (CBD).

Thakeng says no one has since heard from Makhaza after she failed to make it back to her place of residence in that area.

He says Makhaza was last seen wearing a lime green top and a navy pair of jeans.

It is not yet clear if the police suspect foul play, but her disappearance comes as there is a growing concern across the country about the kidnapping and killing of women.

"Apparently Nondaba Makhaza left her brother's residence in Jerusalem park in Thabong on the 13 August 2022 at about 10:00, while driving her silver Kia with registration number 777 AGGY FS, as she was on her way to Welkom CBD.

"She has never came back home. She is residing at house number 16 Andries Street, Naudeville in Welkom."

A Missing File is been registered.

"Anyone with information leading to trace her and her car, Welkom Police Station can be contacted at cellphone number 079 886 5574 or police emergency number 08600 10111," Thakeng further adds.
