“Both suspects were arrested and the investigation into the matter continues.”

Two suspects will appear in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Monday (15/1) on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of suspected stolen property and murder. This is after their arrest on Friday (12/1).

“An operation was conducted on Friday at Kapitana, Skeerpoort where the first suspect was found and it proceeded to Bokfontein, Carradale whereby another suspect allegedly involved in the house robbery was also arrested,” said Aafje Botma, North West police spokesperson.

“A 22 special revolver with 5x empty cartridges, a 9 mm blank pistol with two cartridges and an orange wolf chain jigsaw were seized at Skeerpot.”

The suspects, aged 26 and 35, assaulted and threatened a 21-year-old woman on Wednesday night (10/1) at Bokfontein outside Brits. They gained entry to her place and stole valuable items and her cell phone.

It is alleged that the woman informed her neighbours, who then proceeded to investigate where the suspects gained entry into the yard. It was discovered by neighbours that a wall fell and that is where the suspects gained entry.

During that process, the neighbours reported seeing a bleeding, unidentified man in his thirties lying on the ground.

The unknown man, who was declared dead on the scene, was wearing a black hoodie top, blue track pants and a maroon pair of All-Star sneakers. It is assumed he was one of the suspects.

“A house robbery case was opened and investigations into the matter continue.”
