Rustenburg man out on bail arrested for attempted murder─── 09:39 Sun, 31 Mar 2024
A 43-year-old man is expected to appear before the Rustenburg magistrates court on Tuesday (2/4) on charges of attempted murder. This comes after his arrest on Wednesday (27/3).
The suspect allegedly strangled and hit his 53-year-old girlfriend with a sharp object at his residential place on Tuesday (26/3), then fled the scene.
The police received intelligence that he was planning to meet the victim, but he cancelled and arranged a second meeting for the Wednesday.
Police arrested him during this meeting at a local mall, from where he was taken to his home in Extension 13, where a search led to the discovery of a 9mm pistol and five live rounds of ammunition.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect is currently out on bail for a pending cases of armed robbery and murder allegedly committed in Marikana, Boitekong and Northam in Limpopo.
