A dagga dealer from Welkom has been arrested thanks to a teacher’s tip-off.

The educator at a school in Thabong, Welkom, caught students in possession of weed on school property on Tuesday (23/4).

Members of the Welkom Public Order Policing led by Warrant Officer Thabo Booy were alerted about the situation with the learners. They went to the school to have them questioned on what had happened.

Welkom Police raided the accused’s house on the same day. When they arrived he allegedly tried to hide his dagga behind a kitchen counter. However, police received permission to search the property and found R2 568 cash, 58 small Ziploc bags, and five medium Ziploc bags of weed weighing 142 g.

The accused was thought to be dealing weed to school children and has since been arrested.

Last year, a man from Thabong was arrested for using his brother (17) to sell drugs at a local school.

The accused (40) will appear in Welkom Magistrate’s Court soon.
