Nico talked to Scottish singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sandi Thom. She told us about navigating her way into music, moving from Scotland to America, and her new single Revolution Anthem (Festival Of The Oppressed).

Born Alexandria Thom in Banff, Scotland, on 11 August 1981, she spent her teenage years in a cover band the Residents before attending Aberdeen-based Robert Gordon's College. While attending the Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts – the so-called "Fame Academy" founded by Paul McCartney –Thom performed with the gospel choir Love and Joy; upon graduating in 2003 she returned to Scotland, working as a session vocalist and singing on commercial jingles.

Her performance at a gig in Glasgow gained her attention from the label Viking Legacy, later released her debut single, "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair)," in October 2005. The song got significant radio airplay worldwide and spent some time in the top 10 on various charts

According to fireprooftalent.com, after years of entertaining fans at festivals and gigs she returned to set up her label; Guardian Angels Music, and was the first female label owner to land a digital and physical distribution deal with absolutely no sales history whatsoever. “I was very fortunate to have met the CEO of the company at the time at a restaurant in London, we hit it off and I told him my story, he said he could see my desire, drive, and passion,” she said.
