Bloemfontein’s leading golfer, Dean Burmester, still stands a very good and realistic chance of winning his European Tour card later today.
Burmester is currently in Spain where he is competing in the European Tours’ Q-School.
Only the top 25 players at the end of the six gruelling rounds in Catalunya will win their highly coveted cards which will allow them to compete in all the European Tour events.
Burmester’s week started slowly but has been solid and consistent with rounds of 73, 68, 73, 68 and 71, and this sees him on three under par for a share of 39th.
This is just two strokes shy of the top at this stage.
The other South Africans were are looking good to earn their cards are Zander Lombard who is on six under par for a share of 14th and Keith Horne who is on 5 under par for a share of 22nd.
