Bloemfontein - Thousands of people are expected to attend the funeral and memorial service of the late deputy mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Connie Rampai.
Rampai was killed in a head-on collision on the N1 between Winburg and Verkeerdevlei in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday at Central University of Technology (CUT)'s Bloemfontein campus.
Mangaung Mayor, Thabo Manyoni, says Rampai will be laid to rest in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
“On Thursday we will have the memorial service at the Central University of Technology’s Boet Troskie Hall and hopefully the university will give us their facility. The funeral will be this coming Saturday, it will start at 07:00 at the family home then it will proceed to Boet Troskie Hall at 08:00. We are expecting members from the national office of the ANC and from the South African Local Government Association (Salga), as she was a Salga member as well.”
