National Action Plan to combat racism hosted in Bloemfontein | News Article

Bloemfontein - The Free State provincial consultation of the National Action Plan (NAP) to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance is taking place in Bloemfontein this weekend.

The consultation, hosted by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development together with various partners, aims to provide South Africa with a comprehensive policy framework at both private and public level.

The department’s Daneline Franzman says it is extremely important to hold such consultations, which seek to mobilise and call upon all citizens to constructively contribute towards the finalisation of the NAP.

“The purpose of why we are here, is to get input and discussions on the draft National Action Plan to combat racism, racial discrimination as well as xenophobia related intolerance, which requires an input and engagement from all sectors of society. Although the document is currently in its draft form and has been developed with participation and input from different sectors, its finalisation also requires the commitment of different sectors, in terms of their roles,” she explains.

The Free State provincial consultation forms part of various engagements on the draft NAP hosting countrywide.
