North West man held for allegedly raping relative─── 15:12 Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Mahikeng - A 19-year-old man has been arrested and will soon appear in court for allegedly raping his 52-year-old relative in Tshidilamolomo near Mahikeng, North West, police said on Sunday.
Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the man was arrested on Thursday.
“The suspect was arrested after the victim laid a charge in which she alleged that the suspect, who is her nephew, raped her. According to information available at this stage, the victim was arriving at her place in the evening and opening the door when the suspect grabbed, pinned her down, and raped her. The suspect allegedly fled the scene after the incident, but the police managed to trace and arrest him.”
The man was expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrate’s Court in Mmabatho on Monday.
Elsewhere in the province, three men were arrested in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man in Mogwase outside Rustenburg.
Mokgwabone said the man was found with stab wounds in the early hours of Saturday, at Railway informal settlement in Zone 8, Mogwase.
“According to information, the police were summoned to a murder scene where they found a 25-year-old victim lying dead with stab wounds on the upper body.”
He said three men aged 18, 19, and 21 were arrested on the same day and were expected to appear in the Mankwe Magistrate’s Court in Mogwase on Monday.
