Potchefstroom - The North West University has confirmed that they received a bomb threat at its Potchefstroom campus this afternoon.
The university's spokesperson, Johan van Zyl, says students had to be evacuated from the Drakenstein restaurant by security personnel just after 16:00. He says an unknown person contacted the police about the alleged bomb after which the police informed the university.
Van Zyl says the situation on campus is calm at the moment.
“They picked up a bomb threat (police) from the campus side and they let us know about it. The situation is very calm at the moment. We have removed all the students from the Drakenstein restaurant. The police are still on their way to campus, we are awaiting their arrival,” says Van Zyl.
