Winburg man hands himself to police for girlfriend’s murder | News Article

Winburg - The Winburg Magistrate's Court yesterday postponed the case of 36-year-old Vuyisile Dan Tlakane, who allegedly murdered his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend, Seipati Mosoahle, at Makeleketla on Sunday morning.

The case was postponed to August 1 for bail application.

Tlakane, who is still in custody, handed himself to the Winburg police on the day of the incident. It is alleged that Tlakane visited Seipati at her home on the morning of the incident at about 07:00. The former couple allegedly had an altercation which led to a physical encounter. Mosoahle allegedly fell to the ground and the suspect Tlakane left the house to go to his place of residence which is not far from the victim's home.

Tlakane later called Seipati on her cellphone but there was no response. It is alleged that at about 09:00  he went again to Seipati's home and found her still lying on the ground. He allegedly went to the Winburg police station where he informed one of the police members who was on duty about what had transpired. The police official summoned emergency services to the scene and she was certified dead. The next of kin was informed.

Tlakane was arrested and a case of murder was registered for further investigation. Winburg police are awaiting postmortem results which will reveal the cause of death.
