Cape Town - Three Central South African universities are among the 16 institutions of higher learning that will face financial difficulty should a zero percent fees increase be implemented again.
Responding to a parliamentary question by DA shadow minister, Belinda Bozzoli, Higher Education and Training Minister, Blade Nzimande, said that together the 16 will lose a projected R3.97 billion if a 0% increase is implemented for a second year running.
The Central University of Technology, Vaal University of Technology and North West University are among those on the list, which includes the University of the Witwatersrand and University of Cape Town.
Meanwhile Free State students have had their say in possible fee increases.
Government has not yet made plans public of how the university fees issue will be addressed.
