Bloemfontein - Students at the University of the Free State believe Blade Nzimande is absolving himself of responsibility by leaving fee increases in the hands of individual universities.

The leaders of protest action at the UFS told OFM News' Earl Coetzee that making this announcement before completion of the Commission for Higher Education and Training's report on university fees, is utterly unacceptable.

They say it does not make sense to announce a fee increase before the Commission has had a chance to submit its report and believes that the State is undermining students.

The Commission is hosting a public consultation meeting on the 29th of September in Pretoria before completing its report for submission to the President in November.

OFM News previously asked students what they thought of fee increases for 2017 and if they thought free education was a possibility in our lifetime.
