UFS says it supports free education─── MARK STEENBOK 16:09 Tue, 27 Sep 2016
Bloemfontein - The University of the Free State supports free education for poor students.
This was the message from the acting Vice Chancellor, Nicky Morgan, whilst giving feedback on a memorandum at the main building on the Bloemfontein campus this afternoon.
He says they will approach the Department of Education to assist with outstanding student debt and also pledged his support to the so-called middle-class students. Morgan says the conduct of the current protesting students warrants no disciplinary action by management. He says the presence of the police and security guards will depend on the conduct of students, going forward.

Morgan also added that management will now work with different faculties to reorganise the academic programme for the fourth term.
Students are currently gathered on campus to discuss Morgan's message and their reaction.
Meanwhile the university states on its website that info about the #StateOfOurCampuses will only be available after 18:00. They are still assessing operational matters on all campuses.
