Bloemfontein - The Department of Home Affairs has already received more than 80 000 applications since Wednesday for the Lesotho Special Permits.

Speaking at the Maseru Border Post on Thursday, Minister Malusi Gigaba said about 54 000 of the applications were submitted online and 51 000 have already completed the process.

“Which means we have about 30 000 remaining applications, plus another 3 000 that have completed almost everything of the application process electronically, except to have their bio-metrics taken and captured and therefore presenting themselves physically at the VFS Global-operated facilitation centres. This means that we have more or less 34 000 people’s applications that still need to be processed by making payments and presenting themselves at the VFS Global-operated facilitation centres,” Gigaba added.
