Bloemfontein - A Bloemfontein man is recovering from his injuries in a local hospital after he tried to kill himself and his family. He is under heavy police guard.
According to police, the unidentified man from Leeuwenhof Street in Hospital Park stole a firearm from his father's house on Monday afternoon, before heading to his own home.
He opened fire on a 17-year-old female family member in his driveway, hitting her at least three times. He also fired several shots at family members in the house, before stabbing himself in the stomach, and turning the firearm on himself.
No-one else was injured.
The suspect and his female victim are currently in hospital. He is expected to appear in court on charges of attempted murder as soon as he is released from hospital.
