Brits - The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is investigating the cause of a hot air balloon accident at Skeerpoort near Brits in North West that claimed the life of a woman.
SACAA spokesperson, Kabelo Ledwaba, says a woman and a child sustained injuries. According to Ledwaba the completion of the investigation into the accident involving a hot air balloon from Bill Harrop's Original Safaris is marked by the release of a final accident report.
He says this report will contain the probable cause as well as safety recommendations. These recommendations are aimed at improving levels of safety and the causing factors of the accident.
He says whilst the investigation has commenced, investigations of this nature usually vary in complexity and might take months to complete.
A woman in her 40s passed away in Mediclinic Brits last night. Another woman is in a stable condition in the same hospital. Her four-year-old daughter is also stable in a hospital in Gauteng.
