Bloemfontein - One of the Westerbloem murder accused has denied that he was at the crime scene at an old age home in Wilgehof, Bloemfontein.
The Free State High Court is hearing evidence in the robbery and murder case of Maurina van Niekerk, 86. She died in hospital several days after men assaulted and robbed her at her home.
Thato Lefotho has testified that he wasn't near the robbery scene. He could not explain how his fingerprints and shoe prints ended up at the scene. He told the court he would like to question those who testified to these facts.
Earlier, the court heard from another accused, Tshepo Smith, that he was forced to help carry stuff to a hiding place, while held at gunpoint by Lefotho and another person, only known as Zile. The State questioned his testimony and indicated that while he had several opportunities to escape, he did not.
The trial continues.
