Vereeniging - Mark Zinde, son of slain former SABC board member Hope Zinde, is to undergo mental evaluation.

He appeared briefly in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court today on an unrelated charge of assaulting his father, Dr Lebohang Manoto, on November 6.

Zinde’s attorneys requested a postponement, pending a report. He will remain in custody and has not applied for bail as yet. Zinde is expected back in the Vereeniging Magistrate's Court on December 15.

Zinde is also expected in the Brits Magistrate's Court four days later for the alleged murder of his mother.

OFM News’ Dane Beisheim reports that Hope Zinde was found when a family friend went looking for her after she had gone missing for several days

Zinde was arrested at his mother’s home in the Pecanwood Estate in Hartbeespoort‚ North West. Upon their arrival police found blood stains from the bathroom leading to the garage. They also found a large amount of drugs in his possession, as well as a 10kg weight covered in blood at the scene.

Zinde was out on R10 000 bail, and staying with his father when he allegedly assaulted him with a glass.
