Three die, one injured in FS crash─── 11:20 Sun, 04 Dec 2016
Parys - Three people have died and one was critically injured in a head-on collision on the N1 in the direction of Kroonstad after the Kroonvaal Tollgate in Parys.
According to Netcare911 spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, reports from the scene indicate that the two vehicles burst into flames on impact.
It’s believed that motorists tried to extinguish the fire before calling emergency services.
When paramedics and the fire department arrived on scene, they found that three people from one vehicle had already died.
They also found that the driver of the other vehicle was in a critical but stable condition.
The jaws of life were used to extricate the man and the Netcare2 helicopter was dispatched to airlift the man to Johannesburg for further medical care.
Mathe says Netcare911 would like to advise all motorists to obey the rules of the road but most of all adhere to the speed limit during the festive season.
