Malawian nationals arrested in NW for trying to smuggle 57 across border into SA─── CATHY DLODLO 10:48 Thu, 15 Dec 2016

Boitekong - Three Malawian nationals have been arrested at Boitekong in North West after they allegedly tried to smuggle 57 people, including 30 children, across the border into South Africa.
The men are expected to appear in court on 13 February 2017 to face charges under the Immigration Act.
Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says police initially thought the group of people were the victims of a possible human trafficking ring. They were discovered in the back of windowless truck during a routine patrol. Rikhotso however says after an extensive investigation it was found that the people were smuggled over the border into South Africa.
He said the children, aged 11 to 17, were repatriated back to Malawi yesterday and the adults are expected to leave by tomorrow.
