NW education to provide mobile classrooms | News Article

Wolmaransstad - The North West Department of Education has assured the public that the Phogole Primary School at the Lebaleng Township near Wolmaransstad will be ready for learning and teaching by tomorrow when schools reopen.

This comes after four classrooms were burned down during the festive season. According to provincial spokesperson, Freddy Sepeng, the department is to provide temporary classrooms.

Sepeng says the cost of the damage is estimated at R2 million. He says provincial schools are ready for learning and teaching for this academic year, and adds that the provincial department is working together with local law enforcers to tighten security at schools.

Sepeng says it is suspected that the people who burned the school are criminals who resorted to arson when they could not find tablets and computers. He says it is alleged that they gained entry by breaking the burglar bars of the admin block. Upon failing to get a hold of the valuable goods, they resorted to burning the building.
