Gang member arrested in Bloemspruit─── MARK STEENBOK 16:20 Thu, 09 Feb 2017

Bloemfontein - An 18-year-old member from a youth gang will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court soon after he was arrested in connection with a fight between two rival gangs.
Police spokesperson, Maselela Langa, says the Bloemspruit Police arrested the man at 19:45 last night after they received information about a crowd of approximately 50 people terrorising the residents of Peter Swarts and Freedom Square. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Langa says the gang members ran away after they saw a police vehicle approaching, after which a chase ensued…
“The police chased them and managed to arrest the suspect, who later confessed that he is a member of the BTK gang. They were fighting with Roman gang members. The suspect was arrested for gang related activities. We, however, did not find any weapons,” says Langa.
The bodies of three young men were found on 1 February near a mall in the area. The murders were believed to be gang related. A special task force was also recently established to tackle gangsterism in the province.
