UFS to elect SRC─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 14:43 Wed, 15 Mar 2017

Bloemfontein - The process of electing a new Student Representative Council (SRC) for the University of the Free State’s Bloemfontein campus is underway.
UFS spokesperson, Lacea Loader, says a Transitional Student Council has been serving on an interim basis since January 1.
Loader says the university expects the process to run smoothly this year as they were unable to have it in 2016.
“The election of the Student Representative Council (SRC) for the Bloemfontein Campus will take place the week of 27 March. The SRC election was postponed during August last year due to student protests. The delayed availability of the Independent Electoral Commission [due to local government elections] was also a challenge,” she says.
Nomination processes began on Monday. Loader says the SRC of the Qwaqwa Campus was elected in August 2016. She adds that the terms of the SRC that will be elected later this month, will end on 31 August 2017.
