Durban drug deaths - social workers assisting families─── 17:32 Wed, 23 Mar 2016
Durban - Fifteen social workers have been deployed to assist affected families - following the deaths of two Durban youths - apparently after taking a form of the drug ecstasy.
The two had been among a group of mainly high school pupils - celebrating the end of the school term in KwaMashu this past weekend. More than 30 others were taken to hospital after apparently also taking the drug - known as Mercedes.
Carol Du Toit is from the KZN branch of the Central Drug Authority and says incidences of drug abuse are on the increase among KZN youth.
A police investigation is underway.
