Farm murders to become priority crime in 2016─── DANE BEISHEIM 17:38 Wed, 04 May 2016
Pretoria - A breakthrough was made today in the fight against farm attacks.
This, according to AfriForum’s Ernst Roets, and follows after a discussion between the civil rights organisation and the acting national police commissioner Khomotso Phahlane.
Roets told OFM News that the commissioner’s decision to declare farm murders a priority crime is a great victory for the South African public in general, but for farmers in particular. He furthers says AfriForum and the commissioner had very fruitful talks about different strategies to curb this specific crime.
"The commissioner also put a lot of aspects on the table regarding what the police can do and are already doing. But the biggest victory, as far as we are concerned, was the fact that he declared that farm murders will become a priority crime in 2016," Roets added.
