2016 Comrades entries closing─── 08:49 Wed, 25 Nov 2015
Entries for next year's Comrades Marathon are drawing to a close this week with race organisers saying there are less than 3-thousand spots left.
Entries for the "down-run" are going to be capped at 20 000 with 17 000 entries that have already been registered from 70 different countries.
Race Director, Rowyn James, is encouraging those who've been thinking about running their first "Ultimate Human Race" to make use of this particular opportunity.
"First of all, the opportunity exists that if they go on to run 10 consecutive races, they will actually get their green number, which will be their permanent race number in the year the Comrades celebrates its 100th anniversary.
"That will be one thing that will be special and then on the actual race day itself, it will be all the things like the camaraderie and friendship that makes this race so unique and part of the South African tapestry, culture and way of life."
This coming 91st ultra-marathon will be run on the 29th of May 2016 from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
