Bloemfontein – The Speaker of the Free State Legislature, Mamiki Qabathe has taken time to call and encourage communities in the Free State to observe the weekend of 5 and 6 March 2016, for the purpose of voter registration.
The year 2016 is a very important year on our calendar because the people have an opportunity within our constitutional democracy to make their voices heard by casting their vote in the Local Government Elections.
As the Free State Legislature, our motto says we are “An activist Legislature that Champions Democracy”. It is for that reason that we always strive to ensure that we involve everybody to participate in our democracy by defining the future of our country.
We also wish to indicate that Home Affairs Offices will be open this weekend to ensure that those who want assistance with their Identity Documents (IDs), are assisted accordingly.
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will open all voting stations from 07h00 in the morning in all localities. “Local Government Elections, your future is in your hands”, said Qabathe.
