Bloemfontein - The Mangaung Metro has issued a notice to all political parties to remove advertising posters that have been put up prior to the 2016 local government elections.

All posters in Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu are requested to be removed by end of business day on Monday 15 August 2016.

The municipality has to date had good cooperation with all political parties that have contested in the local government elections during the build up to the local elections.

It hopes to get the same cooperation it has always received with the removal of the posters.

The municipality will take legal steps and stringent actions, should the parties fail to comply with the notice and this is in line with its by-laws on outdoor advertising.

A penalty of R53 per poster will be charged if the posters are not removed by the set date.
