The Springboks Sevens teams will look to hit the reset button when they begin their preparations for this weekends’ Cape Town Sevens.

The takes to the training field this morning with their sights set on defending the only title they won during the 2015/16 season.

The won the Dubai Sevens over the past weekend an impressed especially with their huge defensive efforts which played a big role in hammering New Zealand 40-0 in the semi-final and beating Fiji 26-14 in the final.

The teams confidence is high are beating the two top dogs, but they also do realise that things can change quickly in Sevens rugby they won’t be underestimating any teams this week.

The teams coach, Neil Powell, says it’s important to build on their confidence against the Series and Olympic champions, Fiji.

“It was a really great performance against Fiji,” said Powell.

“We played Fiji five times last year and won three times, so have an idea how to best contain them. You have to keep it structured.

“It worked well and showed how effective our defence can be when it is functionally properly,” Powell added.

“We had a game plan for Fiji, they are dangerous with offloads, so we needed to be in their faces. Credit to the guys, they executed perfectly.”

The Blitzbokke will face Russia, Australia and the USA on Saturday in Pool A of the Cape Town Sevens.
