Australia finished fifth at the Dubai Sevens last week, while the USA were rather average by their high standards and this sees them ninth in the standings.

The Russians in their turn ended stone last with just a single point to their names.

Although the Blitzboks are the series leaders after the opening round they was to avoid falling into the complacency trap this week.

Chris Dry, who was named as the man of the match in the final against Fiji last week says Cape Town in the ideal opportunity to repay their loyal fans.

“I think Cape Town is the one opportunity to play in front of you family and friends,” said Dry.

“It’s also the one opportunity to give something back to South Africa.

“We are often seen overseas and it’s important to show our love for the country and what we are willing to do for our country in our hometown.”

The player added that it is important to hit the reset button this week in the Mother City.

“After coming off a good tournament it’s always difficult to get that good foundation again, but it’s crucial for us to almost start again and lay that foundation from the very first training session which was on Tuesday.

“I think it’s important for us to start back at zero and build this innings again."

The Blitzboks open their campaign at 12:47 on Saturday afternoon when they tackle Russia.
