The Wednesday the last two semi-finalists were decided at SW19 with the world number two, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, and last year’s losing finalist, Ons Jabeur, of Tunisia advancing.

Sabalenka wasted no time in her quarter-final by trashing the 25th seeded Madison Keys of the USA 6-2 and 6-4.

Jabeur in her turn fought back to beat the defending champion, Elina Rybakina, of Kazakhstan 6-7, 6-4 and 6-1.

Jabeur said she will have to be on top of her game to beat the Australian Open champion Sabalenka.

“I'm very happy with the performance,” said Jabeur after getting her revenge for last year’s final at SW19.

“I’m glad I did everything – shouted, got angry, then got calm and focused and hopefully I can keep managing my emotions like this for the next few matches.

“I just kept going and said, 'I'm going for my shots', because if you try to play easy with her, it's not going to work.

“So, I tried to hit every shot and show that I'm here on the court.”

The ladies semi-finals will get underway on Thursday afternoon with the two unseeded players Elina Svitolina of Ukraine taking on Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic. 

This semi-final is set to get underway at 13:30 and will be followed by what should be an epic clash between Sabalenka and Jabeur.

The men’s semi-finals will be played on Friday with Carlos Alcaraz facing Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic taking on Jannik Sinner.
