Climate Change Summit will go ahead - UN─── 09:41 Sun, 29 Nov 2015
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is adamant that despite the terrorist attacks in Paris two weeks ago, the Climate Change summit starting in the French capital tomorrow will succeed.
SABC reports he was addressing the media on the side-lines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) in Malta.
In 2011, world leaders agreed to have a universally legal binding Climate Change agreement by the end of 2015. Ban says they cannot afford to postpone that commitment any longer.
They want a universal and legally binding agreement that will see a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and keep global warming under 2 degree celsius as agreed to by the world leaders at the 2009 meeting in Copenhagen.
