Bloemfontein - South Africa resumed their second innings on 38/1 on the fifth and final day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

The Proteas required another 331 runs to win the match, while the home side are looking to bag 9 wickets to drawn the series.

The hosts declared their innings on 229/ 8 yesterday, in a day which was largely interrupted by rain and bad light.

South Africa were soon in trouble when off-spinner, Dilruwan Perera claimed will of Dean Elgar for 13, with the score on 47.

Shortly after losing their second wicket, the heavens opened up and play was suspended with the Proteas score on 55 for 2.

The sides took an early lunch due to the inclement and play was scheduled to resume at 9:55 South African time.
