McLaren out with hairline fracture | News Article

Bloemfontein - The Proteas have been struck with a majot blow ahead of today’s crucial one day international against Zimbabwe, with the news that all-rounder Ryan McLaren has been ruled out for the rest of the series.

McLaren sustained a hairline fracture to a bone in his forearm after being struck by a delivery during South Africa’s 62-run loss to Australia on Tuesday.

The players will be out of action for at least 3 weeks.

Meanwhile, the Proteas face a confident Zimbabwe today in the 6th ODI of the series, ahead of Saturday’s final.

Coach Russell Domingo has indicated they will play their strongest possible team.

“Its an important game,” said the coach.

“ A couple of guys have been rested this series. Dale and Morné have played two matches in the last three or four weeks, I don’t think its important for them to rest, they will be having a few weeks off after this tour.

"AB (de Villiers) also had a few days of rest so I think we will be going in with our strongest possible team," Domingo concluded.

This morning’s match in Harare gets underway at 9:30.
