The Knights upbeat ahead of Dolphins clash | News Article

The Chevrolet Knights feel they can turn their limited overs cricket fortunes around when they face the Dolphins today in the Momentum 1-Day Cup.

Following an outstanding start in the four-day Sunfoil Series, the Knights stumbled in Kimberley last weekend when they lost by 7 wickets to the defending champions, the Cape Cobras.

Vice-captain, Pite van Biljon, returns from injury as cover for Rilee Rossouw who is in New Zealand with the Proteas.
Coach Sarel Cilliers feels the team can turn things around when they face the Durban side this afternoon.

“We’ve made plans and I think the most important thing if you look at the makeup of this team is to ensure everybody understands their role and to make sure they do it well and that’s what we’ve been working on.

“In order to turn things around it’s necessary to gain momentum, get a good win under the belt and then take it from there.

“It’s not easy to do that, but we’ve got the squad and the guys are hungry,” Cilliers said about his team ahead of their first home game in the competition.

Van Bijon, who is known to be a banker and a fighter for the side said feels they can transfer their outstanding form in the multiple-day format to the 50-over format.

“I think the type of players we have are very consistent in their four-day skills, the bowlers and the batters we’ve had for many years have performed well and they know the game plan for four-day cricket.

“One-day cricket is such a quick turnaround and is explosive, so you sometimes get ahead of yourself in the game and it’s tough to adjust your intensity from four-day to one-day cricket, but we’ve got an experienced squad so we will be alright,” a cool, calm and collected Van Biljon said.

Today’s day-night at the Chevrolet Park in Bloemfontein gets underway at 15:00.
