The Chevrolet Knights chances of making the play-offs of the Momentum One-Day Cup where washed away in Pietermaritzburg yesterday after their match against the Dolphins was rained out.
In a cruel twist of fate the rain was seemingly all that could have saved the Dolphins from losing the match after finding themselves on 45 for 5 when the heavens opened up in the 24th over.
The Knights won the loss and elected to field first at the City Bowl and their bowlers piled the pressure on the home side from the outset.
Vaughn van Jaarsveld was the only batsman who managed to score runs against the Knights attack with 22 runs off 55 deliveries.
Dillon du Preez was the pick of the Knights bowlers, returning figures of three wickets for eight runs in six opens.
Quinton Friend and Shadley van Schalkwyk each picked up a wicket.
The Knights wrap-up their One-Day Cup campaign against the Warriors in Kimberley on Wednesday.
