Hendricks sights set on India tour | News Article

Reeza Hendricks of the VKB Knights has his sights firmly set on the South Africa’s massive 72-day tour to India later this year.

The batsman was South Africa A’s top scorer yesterday during the sides 9 wickets drubbing at the hands of Australia A in Chennai.

Hendricks opened the batting with captain, Dean Elgar and scored 43 runs as the side were dismissed for 175 runs in 48.4 overs on their 50 over match.

The Aussies had no trouble chasing down the low total and reached the target with a 117 balls to spare.

After the match, Hendricks conceded that after a good start a lack of partnerships hurt them.

The player added that the triangular series including Australia A and India A is great experience for him if he is selected to
represent the Proteas on the subcontinent.

“This is great experience for me playing in these conditions, obviously if I’m selected this would help me a lot…getting to know these conditions and knowing what it’s about.

“It will definitely help me a lot going forward.

South Africa face India in their second match on Sunday in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Werner Coetzee has been reappointed at the captain of the Knights for the upcoming season.

In his maiden season as skipper he lead the side to the final of the Ram Slam T20 against the Cape Cobras at Newlands.
