Bloemfontein - The Free State Agriculture Young Farmer Conference took place at Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein on 16 April under the theme “Opportunity through change”.
FSA chairperson Dan Kriek says the annual conference is always a positive event, adding that despite several challenges facing the agriculture sector, there are also opportunities:

The keynote speaker, Theo Vorster of Gallileo Capital, told conference delegates to embrace the opportunities presented by change:

He says young farmers must know that it won’t always be smooth sailing. He highlights the Eskom crisis as an opportunity the entrepreneurs can take advantage of:

Topics dominating a panel discussion ranged from land reform and the political climate, to the use of technology in farming to managing risk, among others.
Also on the agenda was the election of new regional representatives for the FSA Young Farmer Committee and top leaders, with Stefan Hanekom elected as the new chairperson.
