It was a disastrous weekend for South Africa in CAF Champions League, with all the countries representatives being knocked out of the continental club football competition.
Kaizer Chiefs were eliminated by Raja Casablanca after the side lost 2-0 in Morocco to go down on a 3-0 aggregate over the two legs.
In Lubumbashi the defending Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns were sunk 3-1 by the Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe.
In Kampala matters got slightly better for South Africa in the CAF Confederations Cup with Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates advancing to the next round of the second tier tournament in continental football.
The Buccaneers were held to a 2-2 draw by Uganda Revenue Authority in the Ugandan capital, and following their 2-1 win at the Orlando Stadium last month they moved into the last 16.
The Sea Robbers have been drawn to face Gabon’s Mounana in the next round with dates and venues still to be confirmed.
