Tankers to supply water as parts of Phuthaditjhaba will be without water | News Article

Residents in some parts of Phuthaditjhaba in Qwaqwa in the Free State will experience an interruption in water supply as of Sunday.

Maluti Crescent Mall will also be affected.

According to the spokesperson of Maluti-a-Phofung Water (MAP Water), Kelopile Mongake, the problem started during the week when the pipe supplying water to the affected areas burst. She told OFM News that the pipe could take some time to fix.

Mongake further adds that their technical team is already on site trying to repair the pipe.

She also mentioned that water tankers will be dispatched to the affected areas to supply the communities with water until such time that the pipe has been fixed.

She concludes that "we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

However, residents are concerned that the pipes always burst.

Clement Dlamini, a resident, says "the municipality knows very well that its infrastructure is too old but they keep avoiding the fact that they have to renew it.

"We [have had] enough of their poor service delivery and lies."
