Memorial service held for Vyfhoek victims─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 13:11 Thu, 25 Aug 2022
A memorial service for five of the Vyfhoek victims was held at the Madiba Banquet Hall, Potchefstroom, in the North West on Thursday.
OFM News previously reported that Tebogo Motsemme (12), Thando Lewane (9), Cristina Mashai (9), Orenele Seroalo (8), and Mahlohonolo Mapheto (7), passed away on Thursday 18 August 2022.
A mini truck travelling on the N12 road from Potchefstroom in the direction of Johannesburg, overturned after its front wheel burst. The driver lost control of the vehicle. Malindi adds that the mini truck then went straight through the school fence, plunging into nine learners and killing five. Four others were taken to hospital.

North West police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, told OFM News that the driver who was involved in the accident was not arrested.

Provincial Education spokesperson, Elias Malindi, previously stated that the funeral arrangements will be communicated once all the bereaved families agree on the dates and time.
