Rain frustrates Proteas during AB's 200th ODI─── MORGAN PIEK 14:42 Mon, 20 Jun 2016
Rain proved to be the ultimate winner of the triangular series One-Day International match between South Africa and Australia in Bridgetown, Barbados, last night.
The match which was captain AB de Villiers’ 200th ODI for South Africa, lasted just an over before the heavens opened up.
Australia won the toss and sent the Proteas in to bat first and just 7 runs were scored without the loss of a wicket.
Due to the rain, the match was undecided and South Africa have moved up to 12 points in the standings – one ahead of Australia and four ahead of the hosts, the West Indies.
A win would have booked the Proteas' spot in the final and now they have to beat the Windies on Friday evening to advance.
De Villiers says that South Africa are not in an unfamiliar position.
Friday evening’s crunch ODI at the Kensington Oval gets underway at 19:00.
