The young bowler’s 41 wickets in 7 Sunfoil Series matches earned him the franchises Sunfoil Series Player of the Year award.

He also walked away with the Most Improved Player of the Year award.

The wicketkeeper, Rudi Second, was named as the One-Day Player of the Year for his 498 runs in 10 matches and the highest score of 135 not out during the Momentum One-Day Cup.

The new skipper, Theunis de Bruyn, walked away with the RamSlam T20 Player of the Year award for his contribution at the team during his loan spell from the Titans.

The player has since moved to the Knights and he told OFM Sport that coming to lead the team was a no-brainer.

“I’m looking at it in a slightly different point of view,” said De Bruyn.

“I’m not a leader and it’s not about the higher honours you’re playing for.

“I’ve got a mentor, unfortunately he is in England now, but he told me one thing before I made this choice.

“He said do you know that at 23-years old you’re going to be the captain of the franchise which Hansie Cronje came from.

“That is what this place is all about, it’s got the legacy behind it. It’s just disappeared for a while.

“It’s not needed for some to have higher honours, that’s not what it’s about. It is about the human that creates a legacy, that’s not higher honours.

“This is not higher honours, this is Free State cricket.”

The former captain, Werner Coetzee, was named as the Players’ Player of the Year by his peers for his outstanding all-round contribution.

The Proteas batsman, Rilee Rossouw, was once again named as the Most Valuable Player, and has won the iconic Knight trophy so many times that he has named it Koos.
